Are you looking for a new family dentist? Maybe you’ve moved to a new neighborhood and your old dentist is too far away, maybe your old dentist retired, or maybe you’re just looking for a change of scenery. Whatever the reason, people typically stick with the same family dentist for many years, so it’s important to choose a good one. Here are a few things to consider if you’re looking for a new family dentist.
Reputation & Recommendations
One of the best places to start looking for a new family dentist is with family and friends, because they’re going to give you the straight goods on their dentist. Ask around and see what people think of their dentists – they’re probably not going to refer you to a dentist they’re not happy with!
Also, check online for ratings and reviews that other people have left for different dentists that you’re considering. If they have a lot of high good reviews then that’s probably a good sign, but if they have low ratings then that’s probably not a dentist you want taking care of your family’s teeth. Check out the comments that people have left, too, because sometimes that might tell you more of the story.
Office Location & Hours
Unless you really, really like a particular dentist, you’re probably going to want to get a new family dentist that is close to your home, work, or your children’s school to make it convenient to go to dentist appointments. We have offices conveniently located in Milton and Scarborough, so close to a lot of our patients neighborhoods.
Find out if the new family dentist you’re considering has flexible hours. Some dentists offer evening or weekend appointments, making it easier to fit them into your busy schedule.
Specialties
Some dentists specialize in different areas of dentistry. So, if you have young children, you might want to check the dentist office out to see how child friendly it is.
We love helping young children learn how to take proper care of their teeth, and we make our offices very child friendly with colourful fish tanks in our waiting rooms and plenty of things to keep kids busy while they’re waiting for their appointments.
If your kids are older or if you don’t have kids, colourful fish tanks and colouring pages might not be of much interest!
Interview the Dentist
Before you commit to a new family dentist, ask them if you can come in and meet them and have a quick talk. Find out what type of person they are, how long they’ve been practicing dentistry, and what areas they specialize in. Get a good feel for them before you decide whether they’re going to be your new family dentist or not.
Orion Dental is a full-service dentist with offices conveniently located in Milton and Scarborough. We offer a full range of dental services for the whole family, covering everything from pediatric dentistry to orthodontics to dentures and partials.
