Hallowe’en being on a Saturday this year is the perfect excuse to throw a fabulous and fun party!
Of course, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go trick or treating or hand out treats too — and we have some great ideas for non-candy treats that won’t get your house egged by the local kids!
Having your friends dress up and come and hang out with you in your haunted house – or perhaps just your regular house with a few awesome decorations – seems like some super family fun, right?
We’ve got some great ideas for healthy Hallowe’en party snacks that your guests of all ages can enjoy! Tip? Some of the nut-free versions of these treats would also be great if your little ghoul or goblin is having a Hallowe’en party at school, this year!
Hallowe’en Monster Mouths:
What you’ll need: Apple slices, peanut butter and mini marshmallows! Apples are always good and peanut butter is a very good source of protein (just be careful for those who have allergies). The marshmallows are just good fun! It’s only once a year, after all!
Stringy Ghosts:
Take individually wrapped cheese strings and a Sharpie to create wee ghosties that are sure to please!
Banana Ghosts and Mini Pumpkins:
Bananas and a few chocolate chips are spooktacular and mandarins or clementines make the ideal mini pumpkin! (Tip: use a bit of celery for the stem!)
You can find a lot more fun AND healthy Hallowe’en snack ideas online!
And for the adults?
How about roasted pumpkin seeds sprinkled with your favourite spice?
Or spider devilled eggs? Take a black olive, cut it in half. Use one half for the spider body on top of your devilled egg and the other half to make legs. Presto!
Spooky and healthy treats!
Fun doesn’t have to mean junk food and considering some of the ingredients most candy contains, a little goes a long way! Instead, make sure that your hungry party snackers have plenty to choose from that is healthy AND tasty!
