11 Amazing Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for the replacement of teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth.

A Dental Shift: Implants Instead of Bridges – implants are extremely useful for people who have lost teeth and with that the ability to enjoy eating or smiling.

Dental Implants – A permanent solution for missing teeth!

Now patients who are missing teeth have a strong, beautiful alternative to bridges, partials, or full dentures. Dental implants will improve your smile and your lifestyle. They look, feel, and function like natural teeth because of a titanium anchor attached to the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth.

Implants can also anchor bridges, partials, or full dentures to eliminate slipping.

With an implant, you can get natural looking teeth that perform like natural teeth and most of all you get your full smile and your confidence back.

Implants help with the preservation of facial structure and prevent bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.

Did you know that studies have shown that your oral health can have a serious impact on your mental health? To sum up the data, poor oral health has actually been linked to poor mental health, which isn’t something anyone wants to have to deal with on a daily basis.

Because of this, improved mental health is one of many reasons to schedule routine dental visits each year. But maybe you’re so unhappy with your smile that you want to completely change the way your teeth look for the better.

That’s where dental implants come into play.

Dental implants are artificial teeth that are surgically implanted into your gums. They not only replace your teeth but your roots, too, reversing any longterm damage that you may be dealing with currently.

That’s not all dental implants are good for, though. There are quite a few more benefits of dental implants, including some you might not have thought of, all of which make the decision to get them that much easier.

So if you are curious to know what dental implants are all about, and how they can change your life, you’ve come to the right place! In this article, we’ll tell you why, if you have poor dental health, you should seriously consider getting dental implants soon.

Now then, let’s get started!

1. A Whiter and Brighter Smile

It’s safe to say that everyone aspires to have a white and bright smile. That’s why so many toothpaste brands cater to the idea that, by using their product, your teeth will shine brighter than they ever have before.

While it’s true that proper dental care can improve the whiteness of your smile, sometimes that isn’t enough. This is especially true if you have damaged or discolored teeth, or are missing teeth completely.

If this sounds like your current oral health situation, achieving a white smile may even seem like an impossible dream. Because sometimes even the best modern solutions to a healthy smile can’t help you get a white smile that you’re proud to show off in photos.

Well, with dental implants, you’ll be able to achieve that beautiful white smile you’ve been dreaming of, regardless of your current oral health situation. This can help you feel more comfortable smiling or laughing, which can completely change your life for the better.

This confidence boost can even blend over into your personal life or even your career. And with this newfound confidence comes the willingness to put yourself out there more and go after new goals, which of course is a good thing.

2. Improved Physical Appearance

One of, if not the biggest benefits to getting dental implants is the ability to improve your overall physical appearance. As we touched on earlier, having a whiter and brighter smile can go a long way in making you look and feel better each and every day.

But, believe it or not, dental implants can even change the way your overall face looks, too. This is especially true if you’re currently dealing with edentulism, or lack of teeth, in any kind of way.

Simply put, improving your facial structure with dental implants can give you a much more natural-looking jawline. And when you look at yourself in pictures, or in the mirror, you’ll be happy with the way that you look.

3. The Ability to Eat Certain Foods Again

We’ve all heard the old saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” But sometimes your teeth can prevent you from eating certain foods, like delicious and healthy apples, without cutting them up into tiny pieces.

You can even be forced to avoid some foods completely, which isn’t fun, especially around the holiday season.

Well, this can be a thing of the past, should you decide to get dental implants in the near future. Once the healing process is complete, all of the food that you currently avoid due to your teeth can once again return to your life.

So whether it’s steak or a delicious piece of taffy, don’t let your teeth prevent you from eating the foods you want to eat anymore.

4. Improved Clarity of Speech

Often times, damaged teeth can impact more than just your looks or what kind of foods you can eat. Unfortunately, damaged or missing teeth can even have a negative effect on your ability to talk in a clear and concise manner.

This can obviously affect your overall confidence in certain situations, like at work or when you’re on a date. And even if you currently have dentures, the ability to pronounce certain words can be difficult.

Also, the fear of your dentures falling out mid-sentence, and embarrassing you, can prevent you from even speaking as much as you’d like.

Well, because dental implants are implanted in your mouth, they’re a lot like real teeth. This means they won’t shift in your mouth while you eat or talk, so you can speak with confidence and clarity.

Also, you won’t have to fear about them coming out while you’re talking, and embarrassing you in the process, which is a huge positive.

5. The Overall Durability of Implants

One of the biggest questions about dental implants is in regard to their durability. People are curious to know how often the implants will need to be replaced and if they are indeed a permanent solution to their oral health issues.

Well, depending on how well you take care of them, dental implants can last a long time without needing to be replaced. In fact, it’s quite normal for dental implants to last you the rest of your lifetime, which is as permanent of a solution as there is!

This is much different than dentures or other dental solutions. This is why if you’re serious about fixing your smile for good, dental implants are the only way to go.

Here are just a few reasons why dental implants are the superior choice:

  • Dental implants are extremely fracture-resistant
  • Unlike real teeth, dental implants will never decay
  • Dental implants are made from non-corrosive, biocompatible materials
  • Once healed, dental implants will fuse with the existing bone in your jaw, giving them additional strength

6. Improved Dental Comfort

If you currently have dentures or have had them in the past, you know just how uncomfortable they can be to wear. And if you have damaged teeth or exposed nerves, the pain that you deal with on a daily basis can be life-altering, to say the least.

Believe it or not, dental implants can make this problem a thing of the past, and for good, too. That way you can experience life without dental pain and see how much you’ve been missing out on!

Often times, we don’t realize how much we’re affected by something until it’s removed. It’s safe to say that, once you have your dental implants, you’ll be amazed at how much better you feel as a result.

11 Benefits of Dental Implants

7. Bone Loss Prevention

One of the biggest issues that come from suffering from edentulism of any kind is bone loss. Believe it or not, when a tooth is missing, you can lose up to 25% of the bone in the area during the first year alone. And that bone loss doesn’t stop over time, which isn’t a good thing.

And while dentures can be beneficial for other reasons, the can actually make bone loss worse. Because dentures rub against the bone in your mouth often, they can actually grind and wear away the bone itself, speeding up the bone loss process.

Remember, a dental implant replaces both your root and your tooth. This means your ability to chew food is restored to normal, and thus, your bone is stimulated. This stimulation allows for it to not only not wear away, but to grow naturally, which is what you want.

8. Improved Self-Esteem

We’ve touched on this briefly earlier, but it’s worth mentioning again just how much good dental implants can do for your self-esteem.

Going through life be tough enough as is without lacking confidence due to your smile not being what you want it to be. And even if it’s a subconscious thing, that lack of confidence can prevent you from attempting new things, or going after new goals.

Simply put, that’s no way to live your life. So let dental implants give you the boost in confidence that you deserve. That way you tackle all of life’s obstacles head-on and even go after a few things that you were too afraid of before.

9. Aging Prevention

One of the biggest fears that almost everyone deals with is the fear of growing older. Because when you start to grow older, you start to look older, which isn’t something anyone wants to have happened to them.

As we touched on earlier, missing teeth can lead to your face actually sinking in somewhat, especially around your jaw and mouth area.

This can change the overall shape of your face. And as you grow older, it can actually make you look even older than you are, because of how sunken your face has become.

While you can’t combat the aging process, you can at least slow it down, or make it less noticeable, with dental implants. So if you’re missing teeth, and have already noticed your face starting to sink, consider getting implants today.

10. Improved Oral Health

Did you know that bad oral health can have serious effects on your heart, as well as your overall well being?  That’s right, bad oral health can even lead to you dying at an early age, which isn’t something anyone wants.

That’s why the biggest benefit, above all other benefits, to dental implants is improved oral health. Because of the fact that dental implants replace your teeth and their roots completely, any issues you may have are completely gone, too.

And with this improved oral health comes a decreased chance of heart-related issues, which means you can stay healthier and live longer as a result.

Oral health affects overall health in a multitude of ways, including:

  • Good oral health keeps bacteria in your mouth, and therefore your body, under control
  • A healthy level of saliva neutralizes the acid in your mouth and helps in preventing disease
  • Along with being linked to heart disease, poor oral health can also contribute to serious health conditions such as pneumonia and even premature birth

11. Cost-Effectiveness

Perhaps the main reason why someone wouldn’t seriously consider dental implants is the cost of the procedure. But if you’re currently paying for other dental procedures routinely, like bridges and root canals, or have dentures, implants can actually be more cost-effective in the long run.

Again, if taken care of properly, dental implants can last you for the rest of your life. And during that time span, you won’t be paying for root canals, cavities, or other dental procedures.

And if you have dentures, getting new ones every few years can add up, too. But once again, that won’t be a problem anymore, thanks to your permanent dental implants.

So if the price is something you’re hung up on, take a second and check out the numbers. You might be surprised to find that, in the long run, implants are the best option.

Well, there you have it! Those are 11 benefits of dental implants!

As you can see, there are quite a few good reasons why dental implants are worth considering. The ability to quickly improve your oral health, as well as your mental health, is without a doubt the biggest reason to do so.

You’ll instantly have a whiter and brighter smile, which can improve your overall confidence overnight. The ability to prevent further oral health issues, like bone loss, is a big plus, too.

Dental implants are a cost-effective option that, if cared for properly, can last you for a lifetime. They can help keep you looking young, and give you the confidence you need to find success in all aspects of your life.

How do we evaluate you for Dental Implants?

To evaluate whether an implant is the best solution for your missing teeth we will ask you to undergo a dental visual and X-ray examination, including the documentation of your health history. We will use these consultation visits to establish your specific needs. The consultation will be done with Dr. Naqvi at Orion Dental in our Milton and Scarborough dentist offices. Your questions and concerns are important to us and our team will work with you very closely to help make you understand these procedures.

What is our Dental Implant procedure?

After a thorough evaluation, your dentist can tell you whether you’re a candidate for dental implants. They require adequate bone structure for placement. The first stage of the procedure involves oral surgery in which a titanium post is implanted into the jawbone for each missing tooth or for the new teeth that will anchor a bridge or denture. Nature will take its course, allowing your bone tissue to fuse with the titanium post. This creates a solid foundation.

Dental implants are titanium posts, which function as a substitute for your real tooth root. These titanium posts are surgically placed into the jawbone. These are then attached to the implant, which protrudes through the gums. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth. For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures. First, implants are placed within your jawbone. For the first three to six months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums, gradually bonding with the jawbone.

After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins. The surgeon will uncover the implants and attach a small healing collar. An impression will be taken a few days following this procedure. Then posts or attachments can be connected to the implants. The replacement teeth are then made over the posts or attachments. The entire procedure usually takes four to six months. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.

Once the implants are secured, your dentist will attach a handcrafted, permanent crown to each post. The restorations will match your natural teeth and blend seamlessly with your smile.

By imitating an entire natural tooth, from the root up, dental implants offer a prosthetic that closely mimics nature. The result? Dental implant patients enjoy restored function, which allows a healthy diet of hard-to-chew foods. Speech may also improve. Strong and secure, your new smile will boost your confidence, enhance your appearance, and improve your quality of life.

This place was a blessing for me. I was suffering from infected root canal done from years ago in another country. It got so bad and I was starting to feel the pressure on my face already. I called and spoke with receptionist ate Marieta who was super nice she squeezed me in within an hour. When I got there I didn’t know what to expect , I met Dr. Naqvi and I told her my concerns. She ordered xray and when she saw the result she prescribed me meds right away and explained what was going on. I just felt right then that she will get me the best treatment. And she did! After few visits and few pokes (which she Always asked me if I would like) my root canal is re treated and it’s now healed . She explained every step to me and set my expectation on the treatment.she’s very gentle , very detailed and most of all you can feel she really cares. I ended up replacing my bridge with her too and again with amazing results. They billed exactly what ate Marieta tells me ( thank you ate!) and that was very nice so I knew how to prepare because I was also working on budget on my crowns . I love Dr. Naqvi . Thank you Orion scarborough.

Orion Dental is a great dental office! The Dr's and staff are very professional and accommodating to my needs. I was nervous and was having a anxiety attack, and they helped me feel comfortable and my anxiety went away. The office makes you feel like family from once you enter till you exit. When you walk in you are greeted with smiles not only from the staff but also the beautiful fish. The office is very clean and sanitary, and no need to question sanitization protocol. I've been to a few dental offices and Orion Dental is that hidden gem.

Dr Naqvi is an incredibly knowledgeable dentist; I unfortunately was experiencing tooth pain and her office was able to fit me in for an appointment (the same day) and she did X-rays. She filled a deep cavity on the spot. Because of how close to the nerve the cavity was, the tooth was still causing me pain. A few weeks later, they again fit me in for an examination and then did a root canal the very next day. For the root canal, Dr Naqvi listened to my concerns and busy life and did not rush into it. Dr Naqvi examined the tooth/area to confirm that performing a root canal would actually solve my pain. She is incredibly patient, empathetic, and truly cares about her patients. As someone who is not a fan of visiting any dentist, Dr Naqvi is amazing and I know I am in good hands when I’m under her care. I can not recommend her enough. I drove over 1.5 hours to get a root canal so she could be the one performing it. If you’re looking for an incredible dentist, don’t hesitate to be a patient of Dr. Naqvi!

You should be careful if you are looking for a dental clinic and have taken the reviews in your account to choose this clinic. There is a risk that these comments are false. You should ask someone about this clinic if possible, or go there and see for yourself first, that would be better.

I have nothing but love and appreciation to Dr. Naqvi and her Orion Dental Scarborough team. Ate Marrieta from the reception has been very accommodating since day 1 in my almost 1 year of going to them. Every service I had was superb from routine cleaning to my complex dental appointments. I appreciate that they provide full range of dental services, were honest enough to lay down what I need and have always respected my time. I am currently in the process of getting dental implants but have to undergo bone surgery and orthodontic treatment (and probably a few more steps before the actual implant). Nonetheless, I am at ease with Dr. Naqvi’s expertise, it really helped that she made sure I am involved all through out, listened to all my worries and is informative in a way that I can easily understand. The entire team were professional and have done a really good job with making my experience comfortable.

I came to Orion to do a consult, this was my first time coming here. I filled out the forms and waited in the waiting room for 1h. I was like okay whatever the doctor is running behind. The receptionist walks me to a room and tells me to sit so I did, and waited about 45 min. I was pretty bored because the place building doesn't have the greatest reception (Rogers), no WiFi and the TV in the room was off.The dentist comes in and asks what is the problem and I tell her. While I was explaining what I needed done she is completely ignored me.She looks at my teeth for like 30 sec and tells me exactly what I just told her. I ask her what do we need to do and she tells me she isn't a Orthodontist so I ask her then why does it say on yourwebsite that you do Orthodontist work? She said I am not an Orthodontist but I do the work, I am like okay what needs to be done? She said I needed braces and that was all, she didn't explain any further. Also, no one went over with me how much it costs etc. I waited almost 2h for a 2 min and 45 sec consult and had to pay $140. Such a waste of time and money. The receptionist seemed alright, she wasn't overly friendly but wasn't rude. This could be because she was really busy. I should also mention that the receptionist asked if I had insurance 3 times and the Doctor asked me once.

The receptionist is extremely friendly and nice. Their whole staff is actually. Dr. Naqvi is warm, she shows that she cares about the patient and down to earth. I brought my 9 year old daughter in who has some extra fused teeth on her fronts, she made sure that she wouldn't get made fun of for something she has no control over and was very concerned.

Orion Dental is run by the most wonderful group of Women. My dislike for the dentist was extremely high I was at the point my mouth was not in a good place the anxiety was even worse from past trips to different dentists in the city! The teams ability to be patient every step, to not judge me for feeling like a chicken to sit in the chair, to making sure I get my laughing gas and the music is turned up loud and the kindness from them all is why I continue to go and continue to work with them on a treatment plan to give me back my mouth. I am forever grateful to Orion Dental for building a great relationship with me. I tell everyone about that office everyone needs to go to them just once and you won’t look back!

Went in for a simple cleaning, but was forced to do X-rays and Doctor's consultation. When confronted about all the unnecessary charges the Dentist came out and treated me like some charity case and told me to "get out"... They're very nice to people who splurge on all recommended treatments though. But to be fair they do good work from what I understand... and the receptionist and dental assistant who did the cleaning were very polite, professional and efficient.

I have been seeing Dr Naqvi and team since early 2007. I could have chosen a dentist closer to home, but the environment and friendly atmosphere are what keeps me coming back. Staff is warming and welcoming and always caring. always putting the patient first.

After many years of having anxiety surrounding going to the dentist, I have finally found a place that manages to make me feel like I am in good hands. Anytime a procedure has been needed, it has been explained to me so well and all of my questions answered, and i always walk away feeling happy. I highly recommended this clinic.

Doctor Naqvi is amazing. All of the assistants are great. I really love the vibe of this dental office and I recommend it to everyone. It's also so great to see an all female workplace. They are all fantastic women. I'm so glad I found this place.

I have seen Dr. Naqvi for a variety of dental procedures ranging from fillings, to Invisalign, Zoom whitening, and an implant. I have found Dr. Naqvi to be very knowledgeable and patient. She and her team are very friendly.

Went in for a cleaning & filling, my cleaning with the hygienist was fine but I didn’t have a great experience with Dr. Naqvi and her dental assistant. I appreciate being told what to expect at each step, being involved and looked after nicely. It felt like I wasn’t there and I was just a mouth that they were working on. Dr. Naqvi didn’t give me a heads up about when she’d put the needle in for freezing, she put her dental tools on my chest as she was working on my filling instead of putting them on the tray - which I disliked extremely and I’m pretty sure is not standard practice, and her assistant didn’t know any of the tools Dr. Naqvi would ask her for. Dr. Naqvi would have to stop what she’s doing to help her find the tool she needed - not sure if she’s a student or not but I found it very unprofessional for both me and Dr. Naqvi. Dr. Naqvi did a good job on the filling but I left feeling very agitated and it was an unpleasant experience overall.

The whole team is fantastic! Anytime I’ve had to change my appointment, they’ve been so kind and accommodating. And they take the time to get to know you while you’re being treated, which makes it a more personal experience. It doesn’t matter who I am dealing with, because everyone is wonderful.

I had an emergency with my tooth and on the recommendation from my husband I contacted Orion Dental. The staff are very welcoming and COVID-19 protocols are followed. Dr. Naqvi took the time to make sure I understood everything that needed to happen with my tooth. I'm very happy with the care and service I received. Thank you.

Stay away from this dentist. Dr. naqvi is very incompetent and unprofessional. A girlfriend of mine had an RCT there in the past which went wrong and my friend ended up loosing two teeth. This dentist will just rip off your insurance and nothing else. Dr. Naqvi is super rude. This dentist is hardly open couple of a days a week. Don't waste your time and money here and search for a full time professional dentist. I am sure there are a lot of good dentists in Milton area. Thanks

Hi, I just had my first visit back since COVID 19. I am happy to say the staff are still Friendly, Professional , and Funny. I was very impressed with all the COVID safety procedures. From the reception area all the way to the rooms.Temperature check, Questionnaire, Mask and Face shields. Plastic up in the individual rooms, Air Cleaners with UV lights, upgraded HVAC system..etcc.I would not hesitate to go again, or recommend them to someone. I felt very relaxed and safe. A great job as always!!Thank you,Kevin GarsidePatient.

Was referred by Opencare to this dentist, but when I got there I wanted to be sure they were not going to "upcharge" me because I was referred through Opencare, and good thing I checked- because there is a minimum amount they charge for their first visit. Which I understand, and was okay to proceed with as long as it was covered under my benefits and was not x-rays (i'm pregnant). What was unfortunate was that they were not interested in looking at what my benefit insurance (Manulife Insurance) covered and treating me according to my coverage. My benefits don't cover me for 100% of whatever a dentists wants to do and charge- nor do I even know or trust these people yet. I took it upon myself to call my Insurance provider while there, and also brought my detailed coverage- and learned that 1) they don't typically look at their clients insurance coverage before treating them.2) The dentist wanted to charge me 3 units of scaling every visit. (instead of the 2 that i'm covered for every 6 months) I don't want to have to pay an extra $70-$80 out of pocket every time I visit this dentist because they were doing things I am not covered for. Why can't they just treat me according to what i'm covered for. I have never had this problem in the best with other dentists. They simply look at what i'm covered for and pro-actively ask me for consent if they need to do something more that's not in my plan. This isn't the case with Orion Dental- 0% flexibility in this regard, the receptionist did not even try to be accommodating. If you have benefits like mine- where you are not covered 100% for everything this place might not be the place for you.

Worst experience I’ve ever had. Had to get a cavity filled .. I left in more pain than I initially had ... also had water spraying in my face the entire time and it was so so messy..Went back to share my concerns about my tooth and the dentist proceeded to drill at my teeth without freezing me and I was obviously in a ton of discomfort ... wanted to speak to the receptionist about my experience ... the doctor could tell I was upset and hovered around until I left .. so I couldn’t speak to the front desk who it my experience .I wouldn’t ever trust this place with my teeth again.

Convenient location and nice & clean clinic, staff is courteous. Accommodating with appointments and direct billing to insurance. However, there are areas of improvement in the practice Like other clinics. I would go again.

I have known and been a client of Dr. Naqvi's for over 10 years now and can't say enough great things about the care I get from Orion Dental. Not only is Doc a superb dentist, she is a kind and generous human being. I've had some challenges with my teeth from neglect when I was younger but you would never know it now, as well I've had some cosmetic upgrades in the form of veneer's done that makes me proud to smile again. I don't understand the negative review on here, I'm sure it's some disgruntled man who has a problem with a woman in a position of power or it's some bot...not sure but it doesn't matter cuz Dr. Naqvi and her amazing staff are simply the best. :-)

Needed a receptionist on duty. The office was busy with appointments and the dental staff was covering as the receptionist was off. Hygienist was nice, but I still have some coffee stains on my teeth she missed during the cleaning. She did do well to make me feel comfortable which was valued as I have dental anxiety and she was friendly. Checkout process took very long, as Dr. Fahimay Naqvi was not acquainted with the checkout/billing process (nor should she be) might have been better to have a process in place for when the receptionist is not there. Experience was fine but not sure how I feel about coming back.

Always a warm welcome. They are super accommodating to people with young families and time constraints. Very knowledgeable and gentle. I had a problem tooth for years and after other dentists at other offices were stumped Dr. Naqvi came in and realized what the problem was after a thorough exam. I am thoroughly impressed by their care and service and I’d recommend them 100%.
