Government Dental Program
Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program that helps cover the cost of dental care for eligible Canadian residents who do not have private dental insurance. Orion Dental is a registered CDCP provider at both our Scarborough and Milton, Ontario offices. Below you will find who is eligible, what the plan covers, and how to book a CDCP appointment with us.
What Is the Canadian Dental Care Plan?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal government program designed to reduce financial barriers to oral health care. It helps eligible Canadian residents who do not have dental insurance and whose adjusted family net income is less than $90,000 per year.
The plan is administered by Sun Life on behalf of Health Canada. Orion Dental is a registered CDCP provider and we direct bill Sun Life for covered services, so you do not have to pay upfront and wait for reimbursement.
Whether you need a routine checkup, a filling, a root canal, or dentures, the CDCP can help cover the cost. Our team at both our Scarborough and Milton offices is here to guide you through the process.
Who Is Eligible for the CDCP?
To qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, you must meet all of the following criteria:
Canadian Resident
You must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes and have filed your tax return for the previous year.
No Dental Insurance
You do not have access to dental coverage through an employer, pension plan, or other private insurance.
Income Under $90,000
Your adjusted family net income must be less than $90,000 per year.
Enrollment Is Open for All Ages
All eligible Canadian residents — seniors 65 and older, adults 18–64, and children under 18 — can now apply for the CDCP. If you have already enrolled, remember to renew your coverage between April 15 and June 1, 2026 for the 2026–2027 benefit year.
How Much Does the CDCP Cover?
Your coverage level depends on your adjusted family net income. The CDCP is a subsidy — it may cover all or part of your dental costs for eligible services.
